I fell down the cleaning tips rabbit hole on Pinterest the other night and ordered a new arsenal of dirt assault weapons on Amazon. The package arrived yesterday and as soon as Elliott was asleep, I ripped that shit open like it was Christmas morning. There was the Borax, the True Blue cleaning gloves and a 24-pack of microfiber cloths.
But the piece de resistance of the whole bunch was a Swiffer and a corresponding pack of microfiber refills. With trembling hands, I put together the Swiffer, filed away the pads that came with it, and affixed one of the microfiber pads to my new tool. I hurriedly cleared the living room floor and vacuumed it. I grabbed some bathroom cleaner (I'd use vinegar, but I was fresh out), gave the microfiber pad a few good spritzes and started waltzing around the room with my trusty after-market modded Swiffer. I have never had so much fun cleaning my hardwood floors. They were actually clean when I finished, which was only ten minutes after I started. Every other thing I have tried, be it a special cleanser, a particular technique or tool, never really got my floors legitimately clean.
So I went nuts and did the kitchen floor, the cabinets and the kitchen island. I got down on my hands and knees to microfiber away wax drippings from a craft project we did when I was pregnant. I thought they were never going away without risking damage to the floor, but I buffed them out like it ain't no thang. I also gave the outside of the oven a good polishing. All of this took about an hour, plus another hour spent staring at my clean floors and marveling at how easy it was.
Tonight, I Borax the shit out of my tub.
