Friday Links

Here are some things I'd like to share this week:

- Neruda Cats: The Poetry of Pablo Neruda as Read by Cats.  The internet just keeps coming up with the best ideas. I studied literature in college (in addition to sociology) and I hated the poetry classes. Had this existed then, I probably would have actually finished a literature minor.

- Garlic and Thyme Quinoa Patties from Cook Republic. I found this recipe via a friend's Pinterest and made it last night. They are quite delicious and I was able to freeze quite a few for those days (all the days) when I'm too tired to cook.

- Apartment Therapy's January Cure. I'm participating for the first time and I am very excited about it. Since nesting has become a salve to my anxiety, having a little structure and daily assignments for improving our space has made me feel even more calm. There are flowers in our living room, I have a list of the major projects I'd like to tackle this year and after this weekend, I have very clean floors. They're only a few days in, so  you have some time to catch up and join.

- Modko's Modkat Litter Box. Ours arrived last Friday and so far, it seems to have solved our biggest feline poop issues. Max, surprisingly, hopped right in as soon as it was set up and got down to some very stinky business and there have been no presents on the floors since. Ted hasn't sprayed or kicked litter in all directions since he started using it and he actually spends less time frolicking in his own filth. I was pretty nervous about Max taking to it because he is so picky and large. Some reviews warned that large cats would have trouble getting in or feeling comfortable in the box, but Max loves confined spaces, especially boxes. So we pretty much lucked out. When baby gets mobile and starts investigating things, there will be no reaching into the litter box or ingesting tracked litter from the floors. I can safely say the Modkat is worth the investment (and it's made in the USA!).
